About ICACS

ICACS is a biannual meeting, which deals with physical and chemical phenomena induced by the interaction of low and high energy beams of charged or neutral particles with matter : surface and bulk of solids, liquids and biomaterials. The most recent meetings have been held in Odense (Denmark, 1999) and Beijing (China, 1997). The objectives of the Paris ICACS-19 are to assess the state of the art in the current understanding of a variety of phenomena such as energy losses of ions, radiation damage, sputtering, excitation, ionisation and electron emission as well as collision induced reactions and desorption of charged or neutral atomic and molecular species. Fundamental aspects of electron transfer in particle surface/bulk interactions will be highlighted. While the programme will focus mainly on the interaction of atomic, molecular and cluster projectiles, related processes induced by electron, positron and photon beams, will also be considered. Pertinent materials are pristine or adsorbate covered metals, semiconductors, insulators, as well as polymers, bio-materials and liquids. Macro to nano structures of these materials will be considered. New developments in experimental techniques may be presented. The emphasis of the meeting is on fundamental processes, but challenging scientific and technological applications in physics, chemistry, biology and medicine will be considered.  The programme will consist of oral and poster presentations and sufficient time for informal discussions will be allocated.

A Propos d'ICACS

Tutorial
A series of tutorial lectures will be given on Sunday, the 29th July.  These will be open to all registered participants, although they will be mainly aimed at students and postodocs. Their objective is to present clear overviews of certain areas of ICACS on a non-specialised level.

Abstracts
Instructions for abstract preparation and submission are given here , and in the second announcement . Please follow exactly the instructions outlined and send us three original copies by regular mail. Do NOT send abstracts as attached Word documents by e-mail.

Proceedings
Proceedings will be published as a special issue of Nuclear Instruments and Methods B. Papers should  meet the standard of regular journal papers. Submission of preliminary, incomplete papers to ICACS-19 is strongly discouraged. We encourage submission of concise self-contained full papers for contributions and invited talks. A rigorous post conference refereeing procedure will be established. The referees wil not necessarily be conference participants. The submission of a paper will imply that the presented material has not been submitted elsewhere.

Accommodation.
Participants will be mainly housed in hotels. A tourist agency is looking after reservations and a reservation form is included in the second announcement . This form must be returned to the tourist agency. For further details visit the Paris page.

Exibition.
An international exhibition of vacuum equipment,  scientific instruments  and literature will be held in conjunction with ICACS-19 in the poster session area. For further information consult the exibition page .
